Welcome to Fuhrhalterei Döring
We invite you to join us on a fariytale horse drawn carriage tour through north Hessen, the land of the Brothers Grimm with its deep forests, castles and forts. In order for you to get a glimpse of this exclusive Coachtour offered by Fuhrhalterei Döring, we present this romantic virtualtour.

The journey begins
Accompany us, as we traverse the nord hessian landscape, just like the brothers Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm did in their day. It was on this route that they gathered their beloved fairytales and legends.

The Rock Fortress
We meet at the Felsburg (Mountain Fort) for a stroll through this 11th century fortified castle. The tourguide Hans Poth from the Castle Society explains the history of this fort, which dates back to the times of the germanic peoples.

Medievil Music
After the Felsburg we board the coach und travel on the Old Salt Road joined by a musician, who plays music on medievil instruments. The Old Salt road is a historic trade route across which salt and other goods were transported in earlier times.

Ars Nature Way
The salt road then leads onto the Ars Natura Weg (Ars Nature Way), a modern artistsway, along which one can discover various artworks. On the edge of the forest at the Kunstwerk des magischen Hains (artwork of the magical forest) there awaits a “Tischlein deck sich”. A butler serves delicate treats and chilled sparkling wine.

Fritzlar
Here we are accompanied on a guided tour through this historic cathedral city by the local city historian Dr. Schotten.

Hunting Loadge Garvensburg
Here the guests are received and welcomed to a lord-of-the-castle dinner, a five-course meal by candle light. The coachman tells fairytales and stories and the night is spent in this old castle.

The Stones of the Giant
On the second day the carriage, now harnessed with 4 horses, awaits the guests in front of the castle. The journey then continues further to the Riesensteinen (Stones of the Giants), where according to legend, many years ago the Giant Goliath tried to hurl a stone onto the Weidelsburg. It is said that the stone slipped out of his hand and landed in the middle of the forest. A stroll to these stones places one directly in the Fairytale with Goliath the Giant.

Private Castle of the v. Buttlar Family
The Journey now continues to Naumburg-Elbenberg, to the Private Castle of the Family von Buttlar. After the reception, Mrs von Buttlar serves dishes of wild game, which are obtained from the forests of the Buttlar family, in the Gutshaus (Manor house). The subsequent guided tour of the castle by Mrs von Buttlar is a special treat, since she herself grew up in this Castle.

The Frog Prince
From Elbenburg the carraige continues to Naumburg to the Froschkönigbrunnen (Frog Prince Fountain). This fountain reminds one of the famous fairytale by the Brothers Grimm. From here the guests will be taken back to Garvensburg, where a candle-light dinner will be awaiting them.

Waldeck Castle
On the thrid day we continue with the coach and the team of four through the deep forests to our destination Schloss Waldeck (Waldeck Castle). A breathtaking view over the Edersee (Eder Lake) delights guests.

The Destination of our Castle and Fort Tour: Waldeck Castle
Waldeck Castle, located on a steep rock overlooking the Edersee, is a structure from the 11th century. Here, after a visist to the Museum Hinter Schloss und Riegel (Under Lock and Key), our guests will be spoilt with fish dishes in the restaurant Altane. In this large and wonderful Castle our Journey comes to an end. Our guests can bid Frazer, Aimee, Victor and John, these giant but gentle horses who carried us for three days through the north hessian castle- and fortresses landscape, farewell.
